Hello,
I have a large male altifrons heckelli. Yesterday I noticed three very small thread-like things hanging from the edge of his anal fin. They are very small and whitish.
At first, I thought his fin had just been shredded a bit somehow, but looking closer, they seem like they may be some type of parasite. I could not find anything online that looked like it. I treated the aquarium (48 gallon) with Coppersafe. The bottle says one treatment is good for one month.
Today they are still there and he has a little redness along his body where his anal fin meets the body.
Does anyone know what this may be? Is Coppersafe the correct treatment? And if so, is one dose per month correct?
Attached is a photo with arrows pointing to the threads and a bracket by the redness. It is the best photo I could get.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark
