Filter Current Questions For My New Betta

Hello lovely fish people.

Today I have just got my lovely Betta, 3 female guppies and 3 male and two suckermouth.

I have carefully fishless cycled my tank for 8 weeks and it's all perfect.

I'm a little concerned about the current my internal sponge filter is creating.

I know Betta prefer still water but that is not possible in my tank.

Does anyone have any suggestions to disperce the current, I have trid a plant but it's not doing much.

Oh No just seen a really tiny baby with black eye at bottom of tank how can I save it??? and how did it get there!!!!

I attached sponge to mine where the flow is too strong.

Once I left if off thinking he would be ok, come in one day and he had really back popeye which can be caused by an injury

I keep the sponge tightly attached with an elastic band.
