bout two different sets from two different shops as the first shop dint have as many as i wanted i bought four from the first shop and three from the second the first batch were a little larger than the second, i added the bigger batch first and they seem to not shoal with the smaller ones there was a small issue of one of the bigger ones chasing the smaller one, one of the small ones is ok with shoaling with the rest one is ok with it sometimes on its own and one prolly the smallest one is nearly always on its own, wud there be a territory issue or just the bigger ones pickin on the smaller ones any advice on what wud help the situation.

also they seem to be pretty playful and enjoy swimming directly at the output iof the filter and swimming with it really fast is this usual.

right more weird behaviour noticed today and some advice would be muchly appreciated

two of my fish keep rubbing off my fake plant. the same two fish will follow each other over to the plant and it looks like they vibrate right beside each other on the same leaf they go away and come back frequently is this spawning or ich

none of the other fish are doing it

You may be observing spawning behaviour (especially if the pink-orange colors are nice and deep and beautiful and the fins are standing out during the movements.) My harlequins do that sort of display behaviour frequently. Be sure to check that your ammonia and nitrite test results are staying at zero ppm of course.

If your stocking plan can handle even a little more in the way of harlequins then I'd recommend maybe even one or two more of the slightly smaller ones if you can. Helping the smaller sized group be slightly greater in number might help the two groups to work together better. I've seen this same kind of behaviour, so you're not the only one experiencing it. Even greater shoal numbers is always the best answer but we can't all provide room for that!

the fish keep doing the spawning behaviour over by the plant but i cant see any eggs, are they too small to see or juts that nothin is happening

we have 5 harlequins and they are very random... kids love watching them. they either swim into the water flow or swim into the bubbles from the air stone and float to the top then swim off.. they also seem to hang out with the 4 danio's we have aswell which looks kinda cool when they all swim together

thinking of gettin a shoal of zebras in a week or to also

love watchin the harlequins very playful fish
