Hi,

I have read that UV Sterilizeration may destroy the fertilizer.

I am doing every 2 days, fertilization with TPN, PO4 and K.

Is this true, or just a myth?

Ive read on countless occasions that this just isn't true.

The confusion comes in with chelates. The UV doesn't affect the fertilizer as such but chelates are light sensitive. however when I used to run UV on my tanks it didn't cause a problem. the chelates are exposed to light once in the tank anyway unl;ess you have your lights off and in that case why dose the ferts ;)

This is why ferts are supplied in white (non clear) bottles unless they are seperates not containing chelates. If they are in more translucent bottles then they should be stored out of the light (i.e. in the cupboard)

However not something I would worry about at all.
