Im considering getting a single or a group of 3/4 female Bettas for my 27 gallon tank and was wondering if they would mix OK with these species:

5 Mountain Cloud Minnows
6 Black Skirt Tetras
2 African Dwarf Frogs
2 Filter Shrimp
2 Bolivian Rams

At the moment I only have the minnows and 4 Black Skirts, I plan to add 2 more Black Skirts once my tank has cycled (I dont think its far off) and will go from there.

That should be ok , as long as the other fish are quite placid. However 3 would be better than 4 as would five, I find they get on better with odd numbers. Also make sure they are females when you get them some young males pretend to be female to avoid trouble from larger mature males. If your fish supplier is knowledgable about bettas you should be ok, I have ended up with plakat males amongst my females.
good luck, female bettas are way better than males.

I'd go for 6 or more if you can, aggression levels really seem to be spread out more :)

Cheers :)

I could probably do 5 no problem, the only thing im concerned about is adding 5 fish to my tank all at once, its a fair new tank (as I mentioned I think its nearly cycled) and im worried the bioload of 5 extra fish might be to much too soon. But all the rest of the species I want require a mature tank

All the ladies need to be added at once to 1) keep down aggression between just two or three bettas, and 2) to keep the older bettas from establishing territories which they then decide to fight to the death to defend when the new bettas are added.

And I would not add bettas of either sex with black skirt tetras. The only tetras I've ever kept successfully with bettas were neons (of a decent size) and black neons. Tetras can be quite the fin nippers...

bettas have been known to nip the toes of ADFs and ADF would be outcompeted for food, so they would have to be hand fed. but other then that sounds good to me.
