right ive got 2 oscars i bought them in the summer and were about 1" when i got them thery have been getting fed prawns, shelled peas, broccoli, cichlid sticks etc and are now about 5-5.5 inch but what im wondering is can we feed them cod or haddock ? because weve got some in the freezer we bought in bulk and im sick of fish so im planning on chopping it up into squares while its frozen and feeding it to the oscars (when defrosted)

would this be ok ?

I tried my fish (and oscars) with pollock (cheap cod  ) they did eat it but didnt seem to be overly extatic about it. If you do try it, do it on wc day, you will need to clear up the mess!!

My lot go bonkers for fish sticks!

It wont hurt them, I know of a certain member here, (who shall remain nameless  ) that used to give her Oscar fish fingers occassionally

Hey dont pick on me, I dont mean to give my oscar fish, fingers, Chops just bites them without them being offered.

Actually I wasnt referring to you hon  A certain Oscar named Jambo was a spoilt fish :shifty:

thanks guys they have now had some, and as with oscars it didnt last long they loved a bit of plaice it gave them summats to chew on lol
my wife now thinks they get fed better than her lol

Ooooooooooooooh they are rather gorgous!

I feed my oscars all kinds of fish and shell fish. I keep a tub in the freezer with it all cut up. The wife now buy's fish from Asda which has been reduced for them. I've even chucked in thin slivers of beef which got demolished in seconds.

I'm thinking of starting to breed guppies just for them...

...or is that spoling them??

seems everybody spoils their oscars . they just seem to be able to wrap you round their little fingers.. or whatever the fishy equivilent of that is
