Hi there

so I was going to make a 120-gallon pond in my garden
I was going to keep only 4 fancy goldfish as I like to understock my tanks
be honest with me are fancy goldfish unethical
I see this everywhere and I don't know what to do
these are the only options as I don't have spaces for single-tailed or comet goldfish as well as koi and due to laws in my country (the UK) i cant keep any other pond fish
if they are not ethical I won't set up the pond
if they are what is the most ethical health fish in your opinion
I am at a bit of a cross roads and don't really know want to do

I don't like pearscale, lionhead, ranchu or bubble eye goldfish because they really are mutated and have health issues associated with their deformities.

Normal fantail goldfish aren't too bad as long as they aren't really high and short in the body (like some of the fancy ryukins).

You can sometimes find fantail x comets and they have a longer body than a normal fantail, but they have the double tail. These aren't too bad because the fish can digest its food properly.

If you don't want goldfish, how about keeping tropical fish in the pond during the warm weather and bringing the fish indoors during winter?

You can keep bitterlings and white cloud mountain minnows outdoors.

Fancy goldfish of any breed do not handle extreme heat or cold and are better indoors.

Ok I won't get fancy goldfish
what other fish can be permanently kept outdoors as I don't have the option of bringing them in the winter
my pond dimensions are 120 long 60 wide and 45 deep in cm
any suggestions

also, my pond is heated and insulated with good filtration
