i havent thougth about it in a while but a few months back when i moved my gold barb from its one gal(i know, i was a bad fish mother) to a ten and started to use a floresant strip light for the first time he would lose his color. then over night he would get it back. this happend for a few days until i just stoped useing it. since i got him a few freinds and he's much happier and well adjusted(as well as a lot fatter) and doesnt lose his color anymore. just wondering if anyone had a simular story.

Some lights show color better. And I have seen in some fish that real bright lights can make them loose color pigment. High PH can also do this in some fish. I know a dojo loach in 6.8 ph is darker than in 8.0 ph.

The same same thing happens in my 7 gallon with my Rasboras. I have plants in the tank so I have 9 watts of light to help them grow. I don't think it's overly bright for the fish but even so I turn on the light away from the tank and slowly put the light on the tank. When the light is off they have the same bright copper color as my Rasboras in my lighted 16 gallon. :dunno:
