Hello all,

I have my tanks on plain rod iron stands. They are plain, drab, boring, but worse of all, you can see all tubings, power cords, strips and canisters under the tank.

Anybody know of some way to cover all this up without making it a major project?

Get some sort of plywood or whatever and make it look as though it's a wooden cupboard? :p

Where is this tank? Is it used as a decorative tank or for pleasure?

in the living room. in plain view from most parts of the house and looking real ugly.

Can you or your parents pay for a better-looking tank or for supplies to spruce it up?

I'd say, if you can, take the easy way out. :D

heh... I was eyeing a cheep stand at a local pet store but with aaaaaalll the money i'm spending recently on this tank and one other I think my spouse would hang me if I got a new stand too.

 I said "parents". Sorry. :*)

I'd say go for it if you can...

You could also look at magazines and the like. Thrift shops might have stuff.

You might also want to post this in the DIY or Hardware section. You might get better help than what I gave you. :D

that's ok... :)

thanks, I didn't know there was a section like that. I'll check it out.

You or the spouse. Someone you know could make a skirt for it. Get some fish or one color fabric and make a skirt out of it. If done right you can make it open in the front so you can store stuff under it, on the stand.

to make the skirt..put it on elastic so then it fits nicely and u dont have to worry with dart or anything...if u get strech fabric u dont have to hem :)..i have something like this on my stand to make it look better

another small thing to do is to twistee tie your cords together, if they are visible they'll look a little more respectable.

I am trying to talk my gf into sewing a skirt for my metal stand. She knows how to use a sewing machine and I would probably hurt myself if I tried (not to mention that if I did it it wouldn't match our furniture and that would get me in trouble).

I have also seen someone take enough material to go around the metal stand and put velcro to the top of the material and then attach the other part of the velcro to the stand. This makes it very easy to remove whenever necessary.
