Hi, sorry this is going to be a really quick post - I'm up to my eyes in a Uni assignment!

I'm concerend about Errol - he just doesn't seem that interested in food??!!

When I bought him I bought the pellets the shop said they fed him - he didn't eat those!

I also bought him Omega One betta buffet flakes - he's slightly interested in those. Has a bit of a nibble but then spits it out again, then has another nibble.

I alos bought Atisons Ocean Nutrition pellets - he likes those if they sink immediately in front of him but if they stay on the surface of the water he ignores them. I don't know what makes some pellets drop and others not so I can't make it happen every time!!

He's constantly mooching round the tank, I don't know if he finds the food later, I haven't actually seen him eat much since he arrived a week ago.

He seems happy and healthy. He's due a water change today - not sure what he'll make of that!!

Any ideas how check what he's eating or make him eat more or am I stressing for nothing?

Are you putting the food in the tank straight from the tub? I've had several bettas, one at a time, and although my current betta doesn't like soggy food, I've had others that don't like hard food. The way I fed them was to soak the pellets for a few minutes in a bit of water then transfer them to the tank with a dropper which I cut the end off to make the opening wider.

Do you have a pipette or anything like that? I put the food in a bit of tank water in a pot, then suck it up with a pipette and squirt it in front of my betta's face. After 2 days of doing that he was biting the end of the pipette to get to the food.

It's a new tank so I've been testing the water regularly. He makes me feel bad because every time I take a sample of tank water with a pipette he thinks he's getting fed and gets all excited.

Thanks for the ideas guys - I'll give that a whirl and see if he prefers it a bit soggy :D

Good to hear

I haven't actually seen him eat much since he arrived a week ago.
It can take a while for some Bettas to settle in to their new home, What you describe is normal.
