I've never had any luck whatsoever with foreground plants in my tank. After reading good things about Dwarf Sag and how easy they were I decided I had to have some.

I've been looking for them in every LFS I know and never been able to find them.

A few weeks ago I bought some plants which I hoped were Dwarf Sag and got them ID'd on here as Dwarf Sag. They didn't do well and after researching a bit more they turned out to be Juncus Repens (Blyxa).

The info on the net about them is a bit sketchy so I'm still not sure which variety of Saggitaria is dwarf. I ordered some 'Saggitaria Subulata' from java plants and hoped for the best. They arrived yesterday and are about 7 inches tall :grr:. Having said that the quality of them was pretty good so can't complain.

So what is the correct name for Dwarf Sag?

This is what I want in my foreground....

This is what I've got until I finally get my hands on some dwarf sag...

Thanks mate.

So according to the first link mine are dwarf sag?:S Yet other sites say different. :S

I'm sure I've tried the pygmy chain swords before, not 100% sure they were them but looked similar. They didn't do well. I always have trouble in the shops when the plants aren't labeled!

As for the other foreground plants I'm pretty convinced my set-up isn't suitable. 2 x 30 Watt T8's over a 53 USG tank isn't a lot of light really is it?

Umm, should upgrade to 2x T5 39W bulbs :) Would be great for the other plants too.

I am growing my E. tenellus in the same conditions. It didn't do well at first but is now trying to take over, after I added Sera fertiliser tablets. I might be able to sort some out for you in a couple of weeks as I need to cut mine back a bit.

Very nice tank :)

Thanks!

Wouldn't even know where to start with that one

That would be great if you could. I would definately take some (safe in the knowledge it's what I thought it was). Let me know if you ever have enough to spare me some and I will pay for the plants and postage etc.

Sorry, that was meant to me "now trying to take over"!
