I plan of doing a planted tank but wanted to get the tank stable first and all the main equipment so I use all plastic plants. Weirdly they look pretty cheap in the shop but once in the tank look ok.
Also I’m not sure on your budget but there are prebuilt sets of plants you can buy with a suggested layout. Sets like Hugs Kamishi are actually quite affordable and look great.
This is my tank with all plastic - I get a lot from IKEA and take off any metal etc, any product with aquarium on is always more expensive
