Hi guys back again!!!

I've checked on my female platy today and noticed that she's flicking quite badly. I can't see any external problems (white spot) but I have noticed that her top fin (dorsal?) has a split in it. Would this cause her to flick??? Her anus is fine, and poo is fine, she's not lost weight either.

If it's fin rot can I treat with Pimafix and Melafix?? I have small fry in my tank from her, would this effect them??

I'm going to do a 20 litre water change and add the meds, just want to make sure I'm treating with the right thing.

My ammonia is 0
Nitrite0
Nitrate 20-30
PH 8.2

Nothing has been added. No other symptoms with the other fish. I have a rekord 60 (54 litre) tank which I clean and do a after change once a week.

8 Harlequins
3 neons
1 platy
Some fry

Pleeeeeaaaasse help I don't want to lose her. Just though I'd add she maybe pregnant again. She had some babies in May and 6 weeks later had some more, so I'm not sure if she got any more.

Fish flick for a number of resons, is it just her or are others doing it? If its just her then maybe the water chemistry isnt to her liking. If theres others then parasites so maybe using sterazin to begin with.

Thanks Black Angel

I've been out and bought some Sterazin today, do you know if this is ok with my filter??

I have read the instruction but it says on the bottle that waterlife product IS harmful to bacteria and then it says on the bottle that it ISN'T harmful to nutifying and denutrifing bacteria? Is this one of the same thing?

IS it or ISN'T it??

Can anyone shed any light on the scene?

If you can isolate her that would be better. Also do you see any of your other fish doing the flicking?

What exactly does it say on the treatment, unless of course you have already gone ahead with treatment.
Never used it but is it implying it harms bacteria as in those that may result in bacterial illness rather than your nitrifying bacteria?
If it does i'd advise setting up a hospital tank with a small filter using a Seachem purigen pad...
This should keep toxins down for at least a week, should be a month or more....
