I was talking to a guy who said he had a pair of electric yellows in a tank with neons. Is that ok? I have a little community tank that I'd love to add some to if I can; they're beautiful fish!
Was this guy crazy? What kind of changes would I need to make to add some yellows to my tank? I have some loaches that might not be too keen on salt and chemicals in their house :/

No.
Electric yellows are still Mbuna's, and unless kept with lots of their own kind, they can still be agressive (even if they were kept with lots of their own kind, they are not fit for a comuntiy tank).
If you want beutiful cichlids for your tank, you should try looking into a rams or kribs ( I would reccomend to try to get all females though, just in case) :).

Electric Yellows can't go with neons, I did a little reserch and found out that they are not a aggressive as some other cichlids but they still can't go with them.
I heard that cories and loaches don't go well with salt...
I don't know how many times you have to do a water change with cichlids but I do water changes every second day.
