i put a pair of mollies in my brackish tank when i upgraded to my 65 gallon tank recently and had my first fry at the weekend!! Nothing unusual about that, however when i got home from work last night I found two of my orange chromides cowering in one corner of the tank, and another pair fiercely defending a rock in the middle of the tank!! You guessed it - the side of the rock is covered with chromide eggs!!! The female had gone really white, with dark black fins and a dark band on her flank, and the male had coloured up really orange. I've moved the other two chromides from the tank, as the smaller one in particular was getting pretty well battered, but the "parents" are doing a great job at keeping everything else away. They share the tank with figure 8's and a small gsp, so how far the fry will get I dont know - i may seperate them out further down the line. These are my first cichlids to breed though, so really chuffed!!!
