Just incase anyone is interested i think(don't qoute me) but i may have finally cought a fertilized egg wahoo(its not contagious btw).
But today i noticed a egg on a rock so put my breading net tank thing on the tank and when i looked closely there where actually 2 eggs 1 kinda opaque and one almost clear any ideas on which one is fertile as i think if memory serves its the clear one?
cheers for help
Munky

Yes, opaque/white eggs are the bad ones :good:

Right so one egg left and checked today and i see 2 little black dots like there kinda watching me :hyper:, suppose only 2 1/2 days in so 1 1/2 to go ish and you never no in a net tank so hopefully one little oranda fry on the way.
From what i've read should be another 3 or so days after hatching before there mouth forms so no need to worry about food till then but think i will try peas(mushed) with egg and some crushed fishy food as this seems to be most advised method. any hints from peeps kindly taken.

Guess i feel really privelaged to see the whole process :D

Thanks

Munky

When they first hatch, they'll still be absorbing the last of the egg sac for a few days, and won't move around much, they'll just 'hang' and perhaps hop about, but not much.

They won't eat until that's gone and they become 'free swimming', so you have to watch for that so you know when to feed them.

cool i've read not to move them around much at that point will the filter be a problem i got em in a mesh cage thing (breeding tank/fry tank) also theres a big rock there attached to but don't wanna move just incase?

No, the filter shouldn't be a problem, as long as the current isn't too strong.
