i fell in love when i saw them. i saw some blue jack dempseys in timperley aquatics today (altrincham) they were blue but not electic blue. they were very different to the ones in abyss. £24.50 each. are there different strains of blue dempsey's ?

They may have just been blue gene dempseys you saw? Either that or just a poor batch of EBJD.

I think that if you breed a standard JD with an EBJD, you will get a mix or standard fry and blue gene fry. Then if you breed a blue gene fry with an EBJD, you will get a mix of blue gene and EBJJD.

i have been wanting a ebjd for a while but it has to be perfect. the ones in timperley aquatics were nice but i have my heart set on the ones like those in abyss

they were powder blue like these ( and im telling fibs, they were in timperley aquatics, not world of water)

They are very hard to raise to a grand old age though and often die without warning. I was in the same position, but bought a standard JD in the end and she is fab

its the only thing stopping me. i could have got one of those in abyss a few weeks back but i walked away because people keep saying how fragile they are
