I have gottten myself some of the above plant and it has started to die.

Obviously I just thought planting the pots its in into my gravel substrate would be enough but alas it is not.

So my attention was brought to some ferts my girlfriend had but never used.... I have a trace mix which contains the following

Fe 8.4%
Mn 1.82
Zn 1.16
B 1.05
Cu 0.23
Mo 0.15

I am a complete idiot when it comes to this as I have never used them before, but Im hoping they can start to save the browning leaves of my bleheri

My question is to anyone with any knowledge of these ferts and if they can help me on doses as i have a 350l tank but dont want to over due things

Most, if not all swords are grown out of water. When you drown them, they need to get used to their new conditions. Sword leaves don't repair themselves i'm afraid. You need to take off the effected leaves, pruning them from the crown of the plant, either with a sharp pair of scissors or gently ripping the leaf from the crown.

As for ferts, you can't OD ferts, it would be handy to know your lighting (in watts) over your tank.

Thanks for the quick reply, I have two 4ft 30w lights over the tank. Not entirely sure what that means in terms of wattage per litre etc as caring for plants is usually ok as I must pick the easy to grow ones.

Sadly not in this case!

you have low light over the tank, which is good for you. Swords normally do OK under low light. Adding the ferts a couple of times a week should be OK for your tank. As stated above though, i would take off the old leaves, and wait for the new growth. It will normally take a plant 4-6 weeks to get used to these conditions. Bare with it. :good:

Excellent, well at least i know, i do have a pair of plant pruning scissors. Should I take the stem right to the base of close enough or just the head of the leaf as it appears most of the stem is still perfectly green at the minute.

Thanks again for the help :)

yes, take the browning leaves off, all the way to the bottom on the crown (white bit at the bottom). :good:
