was hunting around for plants the other night. couldn't find what i wanted put saw a label on the tank for something called Dwarf Mondo (ophiopogon japnicus var.). there was none left in the tank but lable said it grew 4 inches high, it looked like a broad-leaf grass and the clerk told me it would be a bit spread out in reality as opposed to the straight up growing one in the picture (i love honest lfs clerks). but either way, its a plant the would work for the set up i'm putting together, right height and grassy like. anyone have some of this? i've tried to find info and all i get is pages on the use of it as and outdoor garden plant............

*bump* (sorry, had to bump, plan to go plant shopping tonight after work.........)

anyone????????????????

From what I've been told, mondo grass isn't an aquatic plant at all. It does best in moist terrariums, but several places insist of selling it as an aquatic plant. It may last a month or two before dying.

I'm not absolutely positive if this is true or not, but it's what I was told by an experienced fishkeeper.

In Houston we use it as ground cover outside. It is good for borders and spreads quickly and is almost impossible to kill.....can't say I ever thought of putting it in an aquarium.

okay, you two helped confirm what another site suggested, so i didn't buy it. i've found an actual aquatic grass that i like even better, so i'll be getting that instead.
thanks guys!
