Hello there. I reccently set up my new 65 gallon tank with 8 Tiger Barbs, 6 Serpae Tetras, and one "Dwarf ID Shark". I was wondering if anyone has kept, seen one of these "Dwarf ID Sharks"? The reason I ask is because I understand that regular ID sharks get to be 3-4 feet long and should not be kept in home aquariums. With this in mind I asked the dude at my LFS if these would become a similar size. Now he told me that it would only grow to 6 inches at max. So I am trying to find out if this is just some sale scam to get me to buy it or if there really is such thing as Dwarf ID Sharks that will only grow to 6 inches.

Also I am having some issues with the Dwarf ID. The serpae tetras really seem to nip at him constantly. I originally would have thought that the tiger barbs would be the problem but they don't even go near the dwarf id, the tetras are the problem. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm sorry to say that there is no such fish as a dwarf ID shark, even the smallest member of the Pangasiidae family reaches well over 2 feet.

Is it possible that this could be a species bred by a supplier in which they may have changed some atributes?

Hell I don't know.. all i know is i was told that it would not grow more then 6 inches.. and if your saying otherwise then i am calling my LFS and ragging on them for telling me incorrect information.

Ya i have looked those over before... I really don't know.. either way i will put some pictures up tonight after work.. thanks for the help :)

***EDIT: So i took some pictures after work tonight.. and well i didn't have all the proper software installed on my comp to do what i needed to do. So I will get them up asap as soon as i find this software. hopefully by tomorrow i will have some pictures up.

Unfortunatly, some people will tell you anything to make a buck. Thats why its best to research your fish before buying them. But we learn from our mistakes.

finally some pictures.. I couldn't find my software for my digi cam for the life of me..
