Hi

I have 1 male and 3 females in my tank, male build the nest and he is showing off to the ladies, then ladies come closer to inspect the nest and female is wrapping around them, the problem is that there is no eggs, when they are wrapping they seems to be somehow swimming up right to the nest so theirs belly's are actually in the nest, hence my question.

Is it possible that this is the way they put eggs in to the nest or it must be that male is picking them up back to the nest as they are falling ???

Thanks

from witnessing my friends dwarves breeding, i know that some seem to manage to get straight into the nest, and the falling ones are eaten very quickly by other fish

if there are nother other foraging fish in the tank, i presume the male will come and pick up the fallen/falling eggs

"dont quote me on this, im not certain myself"

they are breeding again + this time eggs are falling and are picked up by male

:)

I agree with mattbond.

My gouramis started breeding but the nest was not a good one by the looks of it. The eggs were fallins out and they were being eaten by the red-tailed black sharks. Although since then i have been able to recognise when they are breeding and put them in a 5 gallon tank to produce the eggs.

After they have "done their thing" I have moved them back into the big tank. Once they were moved i removed the filter and halfed the water in the tank without disturbing the nest.

Some days later I came down stair and there were the fry. Since I had been away for a night out on the town with a good bucket of paint ( getting pissed ) I hadn't noticed they had hatched. There was roughly 200 odd eggs when i left. They must have hatched and got hungry or somthing as there were only about 50 - 80 in there wen I woke up. I fed them with brine shrimp and this liqiud fry food that I bought online.

Unfortunately only 13 made it through to the community tank. However I have now sold all these on to pet stores and mates mostly. They were nice to raise but there was to many of them in my tank and it was crowding/scaring my other fish!

Hope this has been a help.
