Anyone have a way of removing this other than scrubbing.
Every month or so all my ornaments are green.
Not that easy to clean and scrubbing removes the colouring too.
Anything i can soak them in ? or ?
No other algae problems btw.

:thanks:

Solve the cause rather than trying to solve the problem...

Algae is caused by excess nutrients and/or too much light. How long are your lights on for? How much do you feed, what food and how many/type of fish? What are your nitrate levels?

Lights on 6 hours....New bulb....Nitrates <10... Feed pinch of flake twice daily and 1 pinch of catfish pellets daily.
King British....Overstocked tank but parameters fine.

Its not a major problem ...Just annoys me....Any lights will cause algae over time i would think.

Chances are it will be excess phosphates if all that info is correct.

One thing you can do is turn the lights off for an hour halfway through the lighting period, this helps to break the photosynthesis cycle. Still 6 hours but: 3 on - 1 off - 3 on.

Could be phosphates...I do run Rowaphos in external but not often enough really.
Change bulbs every 9 months or so.
And i do use tapwater (dechlorinated).
Will try the lighting cycle you`ve suggested too.

:thanks:
