My drop checker came today, the last thing i need to get my co2 up and running.
Unfortunately tho my drop checker for some unknown reason didnt come with a colour chart.
If i would to use the colour chart that comes with the API low range PH as a reference, what ppm/colour on that chart would i be aiming for?
I know its gotta be a lime green but i would feel better if i had something to compare it to

6.6?
7.0?

Thanx for any help or advice

Water with a kH of 4 will contain 30PPM of CO2 at 6.6 on the pH indicator chart.

Thank you.
Just one last thing. I noticed that if you leave the test liquid from api in the test tubes in stains the glass.
Will this happen also in the drop checker over time making it hard to see the real colour?

My KH is 9 not 4 also. Will this make a difference

No, the water has never stained my drop checker.
Good investment, how often do you change the water in the drop checker though.
Its such a pain to clean also

What are you putting in your drop checker? You have to put 4DKH water in it with the bromothyml blue indicator or you'll get an inaccurate reading, tank water can't be used as it contains other acids that affect the PH other than carbonates and bicarbonates.

I have two DC's, one of them is soaking in a dilute bleach solution whilst the other is in operation, then I wash it out with some 1Mol Sodium Thiosulphate solution to bind any chlorine from the bleach, you can use dechlorinator instead, as it's made of the same stuff.

I have used 4DKH water. Sorry I thought u meant the KH of the tank water.
One last thing. When I go away for a week or so, is it best just to turn the co2 off as obviously im not going to be there to dose ferts daily?

Killudead, apparently the 4dkh water needs to be changed once a week in your drop checker.

I normally turn mine off, half my photo period and double dose the ferts before I leave (Glutaraldehyde or liquid carbon should NOT be double dosed).

Doulble dose micros and macros at once?

If you're dosing EI then I wouldn't double dose, I'd just dose as normal up until you go, there should be sufficient nutrients with the reduced photo-period.
