HI Does Vallis melt?
ive been fishing out the plant debris and found i needed to remove some vallis as it looks like its melted or dead?
and i dont want debris in the tank rotting away

can i stop this? or is it normal?

are you using carbon? Rumour has it that overdosing carbon will do this. Also it seems to do better in hard water rather than soft i think. Some people just struggle with it for some reason

As a fert? no... im not using any ferts as tony at planted tanks said what i have will not need them and grow just fine
my water is soft...

Vals do sometimes melt when moved to new quarters. Remove the dead parts but do not uproot the rest as they usually recover and grow again.

Vallis is a true aquatic plant that have a trait which allows them to obtain some form of carbon via the bicarbonates in water. Soft water is low in bicarbonates so vallis doesn't tend to do as well.

Jungle/Giant Val. does really well in my soft water tanks. It gets long and does need to be trimmed occasionally.
