Does this pleco have ich, or is it just adapting?

Just bought this bn pleco last weekend, and he started going white in patches - as per the attached photo - within a few days. I don't know whether this is ich or not... My female bn pleco, which I've had for at least a year or so, has also developed some variation on her colouring, but with her it seems pretty clear that it's the pigmentation in her skin rather than ich. With this chap I'm not completely certain. Any advice appreciated!

it's not white spot.

if the water is good then it's just colouration

Water should indeed be good, with a 50% change just before he went in.

A relief to have a second opinion!
