Does my betta look better looking than before?

I feel really horrible judging my betta like this but I see a lot of peoples betta getting even better looking over time and I'm not sure if mine is doing the same. When I first got him in mid June, he had shorter but full coloured fins (the first 2 pictures). After a bit he got quite sick and I'm not sure if it was due to Velvet or because I wasn't feeding him enough (the 3rd picture). I managed to nurse him back to good health by feeding him frozen foods daily. However, I'm not sure if that has impacted his growth in any way. The back of his main fin (I'm not sure what it's called) is transparent(ish) which you can see in the 4th and 5th pics. This is currently what he looks like. Are these fins going to develop colour in the future or keep growing like this?

I'm fairly sure it is, his fins look bigger than what it used to look like so I'm assuming so.

I agree. He must have been nipping his fins, or maybe he had a mild case of fin rot, which shortened his fins. They seem to be growing back beautifully now!

I'm sorry, I didn't get the notification for this, they don't always work I'm afraid. But yes, it looks like new growth to me too
