Does Fish Food Take Long To Rott?

Hi,
 
My tank has been in a cycle for just over 2 weeks now.
 
Stopped feeding fish flakes to my cycle 1 week ago.
 
The ammonia levels are still 3-4ppm.
 
Nitrates have spiked and gone down to 0.1ppm
 
nitrates are 5ppm
 
Please help,

Fish food takes awhile to rot yes, It's why people prefer pure ammonia over fish flakes.
 
You're levels seem fine, Your getting there slowly. 
 
Confused though, you said nitrates twice?

sorry nitrites are 0.1ppm
 
nitrates are 5ppm ish

Sounds good, keep it up. You need to wait till the nitrites go to zero.
