I saved a pair of bala from Wal Mart a couple weeks ago and I always knew one acted a little strange and I finally saw why. He's missing that little fin in the very front on the left side so he has to compensate by swimming like a goober.

Will his poor little fin ever grow back?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes it will given time. And assuming nothing in your tank is nipping it still.

With a good diet, stable water levels, and assuming no other fish will continue to nip at his fins, it should grow back just fine.

God Bless,
Joshua

If they are just superficial then yes but there will be some noticable scar tissue.

well, that is presuming that it's just been nipped and not removed at the base. :/ got any pictures for us?

I can try to get some, they move so fast it's hard to get a clear one. It looks to me like there's not even a trace of a fin there, almost like he never had one. But the poor guy looks pretty unhealthy, unfortunately at walmart they aren't exactly skilled at catching fish so I didn't really get to pick out which ones I wanted (definately learned my lesson about getting fish there). My tank is in excellent condition and they've been eating well so hopefully i can nurse him back to health :good:

If the fish has finrot, you will need to medicate the fish to get rid of the infection before its fins can start to heal up.

lol thank you, but it's not finS it's just his one little fin that's missing. I have only had him for a couple weeks and he looked this way from the very beginning, i'm assuming his fin was missing when i got him and it just took me awhile to notice. He seems to get along ok, he kind of swims like a goober but he's just as fast as the other one.

Anyways, thanks for everyones help!
