hi i have a diy co2, using a 2 lite coke bottle and diffuser does anyone have a good recipe of how much sugar yeast and water i should use thanks

I use 1 pint sugar, 1 pint water, 1/2 tsp yeast, 1/2 tsp bicarb, 1/2 tsp Marmite. This recipe lasts for several weeks, due to the extra nutrients in the Marmite. Two bottles is much better as you can keep CO2 production at a peak all the time.

'Prime' the yeast separately by mixing it in a cup of warm water with a spoon of sugar and then try to froth it up. After 30 mins you should see a head on the water - now you can add this to your main mix in the bottle.

i use

2 cups sugar
3/4 tsp yeast
3/4 tsp baking soda
warm water till bottle curves

Out of interest how long do people store opened packets of dried yeast for? I have been storing in the fridge and am wondering if after three weeks it might not be as fresh as it was when first opened?

Also is there an alternative to marmite?
