Yesterday I got an email from the owner of the rescue group I adopted my cat, Diva, from...
Samantha,

If ever you are thinking of Miss Mia, please let me know asap. She will soon be going to another sanctuary in Dallas.
Just wanted to give you that option- not trying to push her on you.

Sheila
Considering that I just went to visit Mia a week or two ago and had already decided to take her when I rehome Wren the foster kitten, there's no way I could let her go! Mia is Diva's sister and it was a hard decision between the two of them when I adopted Diva. Both used to be feral and are still very shy of strangers (but VERY affectionate with me,) they take a long time to warm up to most people, and because of this, are very hard to adopt out when there are three rooms full of other cats who want nothing more than to sit on your lap all day long. Most people don't even see Mia when visiting the shelter, as she remains hidden. Everyone working at the shelter figured Diva and Mia would be with them for years and years, if not forever, but as luck would have it they are exactly what I was looking for; adult cats, already difficult to adopt out since they are no longer cute little kittens, who just need some special consideration . I'll be getting Mia ASAP after the holidays.
Here's an updated pic of Mia that Sheila sent me:

Both beautiful cats.
I love the way they go like putty in your hands when you show them some affection!

Congrats Synirr! She's beautiful, I'm sure she will be right at home with her new mom :)

I'm picking her up on Thursday, wish me luck! :D
Sheila gave me a terrific break on the adoption fee, which helps a lot. Just $50 instead of the usual $125!

awwwwww mia is absolutely gorgeous

congrats!

Lovely kitties--I still believe you cannot have too many kitties if you have the resources to properly care for them. I haven't seen a cat like Diva before, with both the orange/yellow and black/gray stripes on one cat.

She's finally here! A week late because the ice storm last week prevented her from having her vet checkup on time and today was the earliest I could pick her up thanks to my work schedule. The shelter employee tried to catch her for me, but bless her, as anyone who has had experience with ferals knows, chasing them and trying to throw towels over them doesn't work well . Diva and Mia were both caught as feral kittens and are still very wary of certain movements, like if you try to pick them up... you have to let them come to you. I volunteered to catch Mia, but first I had to get her down from her perch atop the doorframe . When you hold a cat over your head, that cat thinks you are going to drop it, and will grab onto anything....
(You can't really tell in the pic, but that scratch goes all the way down to my wrist)

She got me pretty good, as you can see, but it was worth it

So far so good, Diva saw her while she was still in the carrier and I didn't hear any hissing. Diva is very antsy about there being another cat, though. She is taking a lot of interest in the towel I rubbed on Mia to get the scent, so hopefully things will work out. It's clear they recognize one-another. :)
