Being new to shrimp keeping I acquired a TDS meter and I love how easy it is to just stick it in the water and receive a digital readout of the result. Is there an easy meter for the other parameters that we test water for? Something we donā€™t have to measure drops and wait 20 minutes for. It would be nice to have one meter check all of the usual parameters and I would think who ever invented something like that would become a millionaire quickly.

Iā€™m not sure if this is a good idea or not, but I have been using the TDS meter to help me determine if I should do a water change, not only in the shrimp tank. The other day I checked one of my tanks and it read 400 so I did an immediate water change and got it down to 200. Does anyone else do this?

I also bought one of those little suction cupped ammonia readers for the inside of one of my more populated tanks, hoping to keep a better eye on that. Iā€™ve never used one before.

Do any of you have easy ways to check the water in your tanks?

There are pH meters and digital thermometers.

I do a water change every week regardless of parameters.
