I am not sure, but yesterday the female daemons breeding tube came down, but by evening it had dissapeared again, however this morning she looks a little thinner and is fanning a spot at the back of the tank. There is so little infomation on these guys breeding about all I can find is they bury the eggs. She does keep pushing the male away from the spot too. I cant see any eggs, but if they do bury them I wont  but she definately looks like she is guarding something :hyper:

Sounds about right to me, she probably did lay, did she clean the bottom completely prior to this? If so and the area is now covered with sand, then the eggs are likely underneath. If the space is still clean, there is a chance he or she ate them as they did before with me.

No she didnt, she has built a huge slope of sand up the bogwood and at the bottom is like a little mound of sand. There is a clear spot where she has been fanning and brushed the sand away. Its not like her practice where she cleared an area first :/ They were lip locking a couple of times yesterday. I am not sure if they have or not.

When I saw the heading to this topic, I could not resist the temptation to deviate a wee bitty from the topic with the following insert:

Did He or Did He Not?

OK.... back to topic now......

Sounds like she is still preparing then, maybe in the next day or so she will lay eggs.

 Thanks Ludwig, that really made me laugh.

Minxy, I guess I am going to have to wait and see, typical fish though spawning when you want to clean out the tank!!

A w/c might actually help, just dont vac around the area she is protecting and with Daemons, up the temperature with the w/c it helps apparently up to 88f if you can.

I will do a wc then and leave the vaccing :good:

Sounds "fishy" to me. My bet is that they HAVE spawned. ! Hope so !"

Ludwig - you should be ashamed of yourself !

Well if they have I think the female has fanned the eggs away by now, never seen a fish fan eggs so hard  there was a small mound of sand this morning, where I suspect she burried the eggs, its all been blown away down to the glass on the bottom, she still wont let the male near the site though.

Maybe you have fry now too tiny to see ?? Not many fish do that much work for fun. She's working on something I think. And with your track recoded of horny fish I'm not suprised. ;)

I dont think there is fry yet, its only been 2 days since I saw the breeding tube, but it was down and back up again in a matter of a couple of hours, so I am really not sure they have spawned. However she has been collecting sand from the site and moving it to another part of the tank, but the male has followed her to where she has dropped the sand and sifted through it

False alarm, I think it was a practice run, she has stopped fanning this morning

Ahhh, was following with intent. Nevermind.

If you get them to breed Lesley i'd be sure to take a few of your hands with a 6x2x2 in the fold soon :)

IF, they are suppose to be really difficult to breed. Got plenty of rotkeils available though
