Hi I have a corner aquarium and its not very old. My sister was always talking about how she loved it and always seemed a little cross and felt it was unfair somehow I had something so nice :( anyway she was staying over and we had a stupid arguement. Next day my aquarium has a leak :( I cant work out where from. Ive had to move all my fishes to. Am I being paranoid and its coincidence or would it be possible to purposely make it leak :( she wasn't even bothered when I was so upset to discover the problem. I just cant work it out. Help apprecaited.

It's possible she may have scraped away some of the sealant, in fact likely if the aquarium is perfectly level. Unless they aren't level, aquaria don't usually spring a leak just like that, IME.
First, find the leak. Dry out the tank completely, then use a 100% silicon, nontoxic sealant to plug the gap. Place it first, then smear it with a moist plastic spatula or spoon. Let it dry for 24 hours and you're good to go!
I'm so sorry this happened to you

I was setting up my 238L tank when I noticed a tiny leak. I didn't even have any fish, but I was terrified it would break completely!

Thankfully it's fixed now. I can't imagine how you must feel!

Thank u. I wasn't sure if was possible she did it cant really see anything noticavle on the sealant Thank u for your advice and sorry to hear happened to u to. Thank goodness u sorted it.

You're totally welcome! :D Even in my huge aquarium it was rather easy to fix, hope it'll be the same for you!
She may not have scraped away the sealant, only stuck a blade (cutter? razor blade?) between the sealant and tank in order to pry it loose, so you wouldn't notice. That sounds like a terrible thing to do :(
Make sure you scrape away all the old sealant with a blade before putting on the new :) Makes it stick better.
You can locate the leak by feeling around the glass to see where the water seems to be coming from.
Alternatively, if the leak isn't too low in the tank, you could simply lower the water level to below the leak, dry and seal the area above, but be very careful if you go this route! I'm not sure if the moisture from evaporation could mess up the setting of the new sealant.

So long as the surface is perfectly dry and clean before the sealant is applied, later humidity won't affect its curing :)

Sorry, just have to say that whilst "possible" you shouldn't really be saying "likely" as you can't be sure. Tanks have been known to leak before as your own experience shows and you don't want to go starting family feuds when you have no idea of the situation.

I don't know anything about your sister Dextersmummy so she "could" have done something to your tank, but I don't think you should assume she did without any evidence. We don't even know how old the tank is, what condition its in, etc. so my advice is to try and find (and fix if possible) the leak first before you jump to any conclusions.
