Indeed it’s beneficial bacteria, sorry, should have included that in my post as am so used to doing that and forgot this time! Oops

Yes, beneficial bacteria is the stuff we need to process ammonia and nitrite to keep those toxic elements at zero for the livestock.

Hence why OP is cycling the tank as there is likely to be very few, if any, plants for a QT so therefore will be unable to do a silent cycle.
