cycle with betta?

can i cycle my 10g with a betta? i know danios are hardy but after cycling i really wouldn't want them in this tank. any other good fish for cycling? i'm partial to livebearers...

I don't cycle with fish because I find it cruel... but some hardy fish are Swordtails, Platies, Zebra Danio and Guppies. I woudn't try it with bettas...

Go fishless. No unwanted fish to deal with afterward.

I wouldn't cycle with a betta, either. While they will not suffer from the same problems as other fish, they are not hardy enough to tolerate ammonia burns.
