I've not grow it yet but often plants produce side shoots, if this does and it has some cut just above the side shoot so that there is an instant new point of growth.

I asked george farmer the other day and he said he up roots them and thins out but he has never tried cutting the tops off
 
Blyxa is one of them odd stem plants. I dont think trimming top would be that good. Just thin it out by cutting the side shoots.
 
Na dont chop off the top, just leaves up there,

Take the who plant out (bunch) and you can actually seperate them at the sideshoots... Really werid to describe unless you actually do it, if you take out some.. and kinda seperate them at the root you'll see what i mean, then you'll be left with like 3-5 diff plants.. instead of the one.. and replant them
