My hubby just rebuilt a 10 gallon tank that I want to use strictly as a hospital tank since I have so many cichlids and injuries are bound to occur.
Do I need to have this tank up and running 24-7 just as I would any other tank? Or can I just pull it out, use water from the tank the fish is in with basic filtration and aeration as needed?

I run a small sponge filter in one of my tanks so that should a emergency occur it is ready primed with bacteria and can be added to the hospital tank with some water from the tank the fish came from. Other useful bits and pieces are a few plastic plants and some spare rocks/bits of bogwood to provide the patient with some cover to ease the stress of it all.

:D Yes like CFC said it would be nice keeping it running 24/7 however no light is required and only a small heater. And some rocks etc...would be nice :D
