Crabs And Fish, Advice?

Hi all, im new here, you can find my intro, with brief tank history,here

Now, what i wanted to ask is, by the topic title, about crabs. can you keep the small species with fish? what kind of fish would be good to keep, and what ones to avaid? i would only want the 1 crab, a small one about 2" max. i dont remember the name of the breed, but it had red claws. i will dig then name out and post it in an edit soon!

EDIT: wold you belive it, they are red claw crabs, thats then name how could i forget that?

Not a good idea. The crabs need land, will eat any fish they can, and do far better in brackish water.

claws and fish are a bad combination....


I had 2 of them in my tank stupidly when i first set it up and they tried catching my corys and angels when they came close to the bottom.....

if you want some cool crustations id go for shrimp of some sort

Amano, bamboo/wood shrimp, cherry shrimp.
Amano are probably the most common available in LFS'.

I would second this. I've got 5 amano and they're great! Fun to watch and very good at keeping the place clean I was told that they can grow upto about 3 inches tho, althoug mine seem to have peaked at about an inch and a half so far!
