Corys And Half Gravel Half Sand

I'm setting up a new tank soon and I'm looking for a bottom feeder/cleaner and I have alot of gravel from buying used tanks, but I was wondering if I did half gravel half sand if the corys would stick mostly to the sand side or would they venture everywhere? The gravel I have is very smooth but if it could still damage them, then I'll just have to either put it away until I find a use for it, or find a bottom feeder that is ok with gravel
