I have no idea what and how many cories to add in a 12 gallon. Any ideas and suggestions would be welcomed. There is a betta and three amano shrimps already inside, but with the betta there are not and many fishes that go along, so i thought of cories. I saw albino at a petstore, they are gorgeous...but do they get large more than i could afford? What do the experts say?

well, you cant get albino cories theyll need a bigger tank, you can look into pygmy cories though there better in smaller tanks.

thanks, I was browsing at the catalogue of my local store, but it does not have pygmy, it has (hopefully available)...

panda corydoras
corydoras juli
peppered corrydoras (but this is also turning big isn't it?)

which would you choose and in what number?

Juli's and peppers get about the same size (too big for a 12g). Pandas stay much smaller, but I wouldn't recommend anyone putting them in a 12g. I have a 60g and my pandas probably swim the length and height of the tank 100 times a day, they are very active. You could always look online for some pygmies, or any dwarf species of cory.

thanks, I see so many that have pygmies and i can not find any...would be safe to order them from another country than my own? (can they withstand a trip?)

How about about Otocinclus hoppei? (at least they are available here). I have searched information and seems to be able to get along with betta. Any experience from this combination?

hasbrosus are small and you could get 6+ in a tank that size.
thanks for the suggestion, I will try to see if they are available but pet stores here seem not to regular bring them.

I would have a look at some online options. Here we use aquabid, there is probably a Europe option. It's worth paying the shipping if you can get a good deal on the price of the fish, and when you're buying in numbers. There are three dwarf species of cories, pygmaeus, hastatus, and habrosus.

Thank you

, this article perfects sums up the kind of corydoras best suit my needs, I will use it as a reference doing my research at pet shops. It's a shame that they are not so much of a commercial option here in Greece, but I shall try my best to find them on line or off line.

They're hard to find in my area as well. Good luck and make sure you post pics if you do purchase some in the cory section! We love pics :)

Cories like to be in groups and are very social! So maybe get two or more if you ever get any but probably no more than five :)
