Hi all. I thought I was in the clear with my tank finally since the Sterbai corydoras were doing well, flashing has decreased to a minimum, and they were eating well and my tank parameters are back to normal (zero ammonia & nitrite; nitrates 10, pH 6.6, temp 78F).
I added five oto cats and the next day I noticed that one of the smaller cories had small, white stringy stuff stuck sporadically around it's body. I don't think it came from the otos, since I had been watching them and the other inhabitants at the fish store for almost two weeks and they all appeared healthy--and still do.
I suspect it's fungus or some type of parasite, but I'm not sure. The larger of the three cories has a greyish/cottony film near the tail, which I was told was fungus. After I medicated the tank, the fungus appeared to get darker and is subsiding (I was also told to scrape off the fungus and apply an antibacterial, which I did).
My questions is since cories are sensitive to salt and other medications, what is safe to use that would still be effective? I don't want to something that will kill my biologicial filter again, and I'm not a big fan of Melafix and the other one that is similar (it did nothing but kill my Betta).
Thanks!
