Yeah, my skimmer goes nuts sometimes after a water change too :)

Alright back to the skimmer.... I am moving into a sump system and I just put in the skimmer in it. It seems that the skimmer might have been too deep in my first tank, but I cut the tube to the shortest level I could. I believe this is a great in sump skimmer and not a hang in the back skimmer.

The water level in the tank is directly related to the height of the bubbles in the skimmer tube. I added water to my system and the skimmer compartment water level raised briefly by .5 inch and the skimmer started going nuts.

When you have the skimmer hanging on the back of the tank and do not have a sump the water level is subject to changes due to
1. Evaporation
2. Adding water to the system

After using this skimmer for two years I believe it is a great skimmer, but it is more suited for insump use than hang on back use.

My adventure with the Coralife 65g is over I got the Coralife125G :). I think the 65g is an amazing skimmer and works very well, but it was too small for my new setup.
