So the coral was sold to me as a green star polyp. I've look at the green star polyp and it looks nothing like it...

The coral is on a small rock, it has a lot of holes in the rock and the coral retracts into the holes at night/when stressed. I'm not sure what it is, but when the coral comes out it has flowers basically, they're green and look like stars which is why I believed it to be the star polyp.

I will get a pic up as soon as I can, please help.

A photo would really help - but star polys grow out of a mat, usually a purple sort of colour.

I'm trying to think of something that goes inside what looks like a stone and i'm coming up with goniporia, but surely a lfs couldnt confuse the two!?

ps stars can come in different colours and there is a mat type xenia that also sometimes get called star polyps - also Clove polys

Green xenia maybe? My lfs has a GSP and a green xenia next to each other and they look almost the same.

in all honestly it looks like it might be a Gondioporia.(however it's spelt) the thing is though, it's not a rock, it's more like a branch... I have a pic on my cell and will try to e-mail to myself to post... it's bad quality but gives you an idea.

Without a better picture I would say a Goni my GSP when it retracts just looks like a purple stalk the shape of the polyp there looks very much like a Goni to me.

Just thought it might even be a Alveopora

My friend says it may be a zoopaulop... any thoughts on that.

yep looks like zoas to me
