Hello friends

I've got a question that involves copper wiring in my tropical fish aquarium. I got some free floating plants that I'd like to anchor down because they block all the light for the others plants if they're not. I want to use copper wire but I'm afraid it might effect the fish. If copper wire is not my best choice then what other things do you guys recommend?

PS I plan on wrapping the wire around the plants then wrapping the other end around some rocks I have in there.

Copper is definitely not something you want in a fish tank.

I bought plant weights when I first started fishkeeping and they haven't run out yet. 99p from the LFS.

Cat gut, invisible thread and black thread all work great to anchor plants to things. Plant weights work well to actually hold plant in your substrate.

Copper wire isn't a good choice but lucky you, there is zinc plant weights especially for such problems. :D Some claim to be made of lead, if they are, avoid them. If you can't find those or do need a wire, look for some kind of plastic or similar polymer that won't rust or contaminate the tank.

I'm glad I asked here first because I was pretty set on doing it. Thanks guys.
