contaminations and critters

so say i take a chunk of soil from a marsh wetland sort area.
i put it in a jar with water, and some cool marsh plants and aquatic plants grow out of it.
as well as a lot of little pest shrimpy guys and other bugs...
how do i get rid of bugs but keep the plants?

what about bleach dipping?

Would definitely do a bleach dip on the plants. I would not keep the substrate, I would try and rinse it all off the roots.

one time i scooped a lot of plants from a local river pond thing

frogbit, parrot feather thingy, anacharis, lots and lots of marsh plants.

will these survive dip?
