Community or Biotope Tank?

i already have a mini biotope....

10 gallon

3 guppies
4 sterbai cories

All from south america

now i am getting a 55 gallon, help me with the decision.....

A) 55 gallon Biotope Asian Tank

5 Clown Loaches
18 tiger barbs of all colors
1 Red Tail Black Shark

? gouramis?

(note i will upgrade when nessacary)

B) 55 Gallon Community

5 clown loaches
10 neon tetras
5 Swordtails
3 Pim pictus
2 Angel fish

(note: i will upgrade when neccasary)

Biotope means a simulator tank of the fishe's natural habitat, for example asian tank, you wil have to reserch on plants,fish, wood, water params for that area, which is what i was planning to do, not i have another idea what do you think?

btw can clown loaches get along with cories?

I'd say go with the biotype. Thats what I'm doing with my next tank...an asain biotype.

As for Clowns getting along with Corys? The answer is YES!!!! I have 3 Clowns and 5 Corys in my 25 gallon and they get along wonderfully. They actually school together and sleep together too, which are two of the most adorable things I've ever seen.

I wouldn't keep Pictus with Neons though. The Neons will end up on the menu

Angels will be ok with the Neons until they get big. Then as above

Well I am planning to do a asian biotope, since that will be kinda cool and most people voted fro biotope anyways!!

I like comunity better, then you can get all of your favourite fish from all around the globe. However I thin ismulating a specific region is also cool.

I normally dont like labyrinth fish but now..i just went,..wth and i decied to learn more about them..but i have a few questions

1. should i buy all females?

2. are these compatible: 3 spot,gold,moonlight gourami?will they be agressive towards each other? i know they will with thier own species.

3.will the be agressive to tiger barbs

Sorry, I don't know about your labyrinth question.

What I would do, in YOUR position, would be start up an amazon biotope. Angels or discus (or both), neons, other stuff...would be nice. But hey, I'm sure an Asian biotope would be nice, too.
