I am currently reading up on possible fish to stock my new tank after it has done cycling. I have plenty of time as I only just started. I have looked at quite a few and have narrowed it down to just a few which I think might be suitable. My tank is a juwel rekord 96 with a sand substrate, bogwood and a few real plants (also a few plastic which I intend to take out once the others are established). Any comments would be appreciated please.

5 x bronze (or peppered) corys
6/8 x spotted rasbora
1 x dwarf gourami
2 x krib
3 x red platy (or swordtail) 1m & 2 f

I also quite like the zebra loach and the cherry barbs

What do you think?

Any advice would be welcome

Chris

All the fish should be compatible but what size tank will you put them in?

5 x bronze (or peppered) corys - each grow to 3 inches
6/8 x spotted rasbora - each to an inch
1 x dwarf gourami - up to 2 inches approx.
2 x krib - 4 inches, if a pair, may become quite territorial
3 x red platy (or swordtail) 1m & 2 f - 2 inches for platies, more for swordtails

I also quite like the zebra loach - 3 inches, nocturnal :)
and the cherry barbs - 2 inches, shoaling and active

I wouldn't put all these fish in a 20 gallon but you could pick out a few.
Personaly, I'd go for the cories, rasboras and the gourami or the cories, kribs and cherry barbs. You might also be able to fit a trio of platies in with four cories, a gourami and some rasboras as well. Just my opinion :D

With your original fish, if you want to keep all of them in this size tank you will need to make sure your kribs are the same sex, get platies rather than swordtails cause their smaller, one female dwarf gourami (less territory required), cut down on the number of rasboras and keep 4 and go for the minimum 3 cories.

Personaly I'd skip the kribs cause they're the largest :) Its all up to you though. You could also skip the cories if you realy like the loach. Then you can keep those kribs.
