My common pleco really likes to go to the surface of the tank for air.  Is this normal?

Also if yours also do that how do you make it possible for them?  In my old tank (a rena) ait worked well as there was a gap between the top of the water and the lid of the tank but in my interim tank (had a leak disaster in January!!) it's more difficult as there are glass lids that are supposed to sit at water level to stop condensation getting to the wooden lid.  As a result I've had to have the water level about 2 inches below where it should be to allow Alan to break the surface.

So how do you guys manage that for yours, if at all?

yea its normal, they do that sometimes :) you should be fine as long as theres a gap between the surface and the edge of the tank  so water doesn't overflow, obviously lol
