Coming home to...

I lost my first fish. One of the rasboras that I picked up (at Petsmart) yesterday was on the bottom when I got home from work today.

All of the parameters are great. All of the other fish are fine. None of the other rasboras show any signs of illness. In fact, Things could not have been going better for my aquarium until today. I know I just got it yesterday, so it was probably already sick, stressed, or otherwise not well, but still… it’s dead. Damn.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I've always had a hard time keeping fish from Pets Mart alive, and this may have nothing to do it, but I wanted to say it anyways. I've bought fish from there numerous of times. My tanks levels will be great, and all the other fish healthy. None of them had picked on eachother. I couldn't figure it out The last time I bought some from there I pointed out the heathiest looking fish and was escited to get them in my tank ~ the would've been a beautiful asset to the tank. One didn't even make it home. I live like 10mins from the store... didnt make it home I turned around and took it back, and they wouldn't give me a refund, or a replacement fish because the water was messed up! They didn't believe me when I said it was there water and I didn't even get a chance to take it home!

This death has nothing to do with your fish keeping skills... stress and travel, as you know are the causes. Don't fret and enjoy the ones you have.

IT'S ALL PETSMART'S FAULT I SWEAR!!! I know how you feel. I got a betta from petco (petco, petsmart Whats the difference?) and we put her out of her misery after the whole left side of her body got severe fungal infection I'm stickin' to the LFS and LPS from now on

Before you buy fish at any fish shop always make sure you ask them what day they get their fish in. Like the store I work at gets fish in on fridays; so I dont buy fish until monday.

sorry for your loss. it happens. but at least you found him right away. the worst is when you don't find them right away and you end up scooping out a decayed nasty looking corpse. i had a plec die in a cave, didn't think much of not seeing it as they hide during the day anyway. bumped the cave during a vacuum and out floated this skeleton looking colorless finless plec body. looked just awful.
