I've just bought two tubs of Columbo Nutri flora plant substrate. I've tried to look up reviews etc of it but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I bought it from maidenhead Aquatics so though it'd be at least a know brand.

Anyway, any comments about it?

Cant say I have, sorry. But as you say if its from MA then you'd hope it was ligament.

I opened up the tub last night and it appears to be a mixture of sintered clay, soli and sand. I can't say that I'm impressed but I'm stuck with it now so it's going in the tank regardless!

Any point using a gravel tidy type thing to separate the fert from the gravel? Or just layer them on top of each other?

layer them ontop, unless your going to be rescaping every few months then get some stainless steel mesh and do as the dreative aquascape union do (google search them)
